You could, but the topic sounds pretty ho-hum to me. To make it work, you'd need to take an unusual approach to the subject and write it brilliantly.

It could work, if you are very specific. You'll need to make it clear how their absence/death made you stronger and details those strengths.

Many children are lucky to have one parent, let alone two parents and four grandparents to celebrate these events.
Frankly, this essay sounds like a pitying essay from someone who has everything and is searching for something -- anything -- to make it sound as though you've overcome some odds to be successful. So far you haven't convinced me.
And people who read college essays are much harder critics than I am.
