Shouldn't the media of Iraq and Afghanistan reflect the needs and goals of their own cultures, rather than those of the U.S.?
We sure wouldn't want our media to be biased in favor of other nations -- especially nations that many perceive as being hostile to our own interests.
I would think so, but that isn't the question. For some reason my teacher is focusing on the U.S. agenda in relation to the media over there.
So what would you think are the positive contributions and negative influences of the growing Islamic broadcast media in the Middle East on the US efforts to stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan and build lasting democratic institutions? Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Here's my semi-educated guess. Although some media may be trying to help further the U.S. agenda, other media is doing what they can to hinder it. My hunch is that the influence of all the Islamic media is a draw. They win some to stability and alienate others to the U.S. goals.
Thanks for your insight and for the web reference!
You're very welcome. Good luck with this class!
