explain why x, 2x, or 3x cant represent the lengths of a side of a triangle

  • geometry - Reiny, Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 6:47pm

In any triangle, the sum of any two sides must be greater than the third side.

    so
    3x+2x > x
    x + 3x > 2x
    but x +2x is NOT > 3x
