a) your first point does not satisfy your equation, so your equation is incorrect
slope = (-7-1)/(3+6) = -8/9
so y = (-8/9)x + b
sub in (-6,1)
1 = (-8/9)(-6) + b
9 = 48 + 9b
b = -39/9 = -13/3
so y = (-8/9)x - 13/3
b) ok
c) you picked the y-coordinate from one point, and the x-coordinate of the other !!
Instead : y + 3 = (-4/3)(x - 4)
thanks!! (((:
what about D.? ):
d) is not wrong, but it's not in its final form; you have a constant on each side.
Subtract one from each side to get rid of the 1 on the LHS and you'll be finished.
okay (:
thanks again for your help!
