How did the ancient Egyptians make use of the environment to meet their economic and cultural needs?

  See my previous post. Also -- when the Nile flooded, the pharaohs and priests hired the out-of-work farmers for massive building projects like pyramids and temples. Huge stones were quarried many miles away and transported on boats on the Nile.
