Homework Help: English

I have to write an essay about something that has negative social connotations but that I can argue positively for, but it cannot be something obvious like spiders.

An example would be spiders are scary and people do not like them, but they help control the insect population.

Only it must be a more in depth topic.

Any good ideas would be very welcome.
