Help :
To achieve similar weightlessness as NASA's centrifuge, ride the Gravitron at a carnival or fair. The Gravitron has a diameter of 14 meters and, in the first 20 seconds, it achieves zero gravity and the floor drops.

Gravitron. If the gravitron rotates 18 times per minute, find the linear speed of the people riding it in m/s.

  • Trigonometry - Reiny, Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 10:43pm

    distance in one rotation
    = 14pi m

    so distance in 1 minute = 18(14pi) m

so linear speed = 18(14pi)m/1 min
    = 18(14pi)m/60 sec
    = 21pi/5 m/s
    = 13.195 m/s
