And that teacher did not specify? to go is simply "ir" but "to go away " is "irse." I would NOT use a Reflexive verb here, but if you were to do that, it would like this:
yo me voy (a)
tú te vas
él,ella Ud. se va
nosotros, -as nos vamos
vosotros, -as os vais
ellos/ellas/Uds. se van
