just to make sure. You have:
(17-12)-(-15)/(-6)+3+6 ?
Ok, the you do the following.
The order of operations dictates that you
1) First work out the operations between brackets ()
2) work out all the multiplications and divisions
3) work out all the additions and subtractions
While doing this, you always wirk from left to right. So e.g. if you would want to work out 100/5/4 you divide 100 by 5 (giving 20) which you divide by 4 (giving 5).
Then you get:
1) Work out the brackets
(17-12)-(-15)/(-6)+3+6 =
(5) - (-15)/(-6)+3+6
2) Work out the multiplications and divisions. In this case there is only one division, namely (-15)/(-6).
so:
(5) - (-15)/(-6)+3+6 =
(5) - (15/6) + 3 + 6
Next we can just add or subtract all the terms:
5 - (15/6) + 3 + 6 =
5 - (5/2) + 3 + 6 =
5 - 2.5 + 3 + 6 =
2.5 + 3 + 6 = 11.5
