can someone help me solve this problem
x/2+4=12
i got x=16 but that didn't seem to be right

That's correct. Here's the check:
(16)/2 + 4 = 12
16/2 + 4 = 12
8 + 4 = 12
12 = 12

Your answer is right.
x/2 + 4 = 12
so: x/2 = 8
so: x = 16
so x=16
You can check this by filling in 16 in the equation:
(16)/2 + 4 = 16/2 + 4 = 8 + 4 = 12
