help me help me help me pleaseeee!! i need to know how computer technology enchanced psychological research?

You asked this question before -- and I asked to see your answer.

Surely, since you're taking (and probably paying for) this class, you must have gotten some idea from your text.

We Jiskha volunteers don't give answers, but we help students arrive at their own answers.

Give it a try!

im a high school student and my school does not give us a book. they just give us the paper and tell us to do the best we can. i just don't understand the way the question is worded. does it want to know what kind of technology is used and how it helps or does it want to know how it contributes to the success of psychologist now a days? i understand you cant just give me the answers, i want to work for them. i just need help as to understanding what the question needs that's all.

Please leave that school and enroll in another one that provides books and guidance for students.

ha i sure wish i could.

Of course! Computer technology has greatly enhanced psychological research in several ways. Here's how you can understand it:

1. Data Collection and Analysis: Computers have made it easier to collect large amounts of data efficiently and accurately. Researchers can use computer-based tools and surveys to gather data from a wide range of participants. This technology allows for quicker data collection and reduces the likelihood of human errors in recording and analyzing data.

2. Experimentation: Computers have revolutionized how experiments are conducted in psychology. Computerized experiments offer precise control over stimuli presentation and data collection. This allows researchers to manipulate variables more precisely and record participant responses with accuracy and consistency.

3. Simulation and Modeling: Computers allow psychologists to create virtual environments or simulations to study specific psychological phenomena. For example, in cognitive psychology, researchers can use computer simulations to model how humans perceive, learn, and make decisions. These simulations help researchers test their theories and understand complex processes in a controlled virtual environment.

4. Statistical Analysis: Computer technology has provided researchers with advanced statistical analysis tools. These tools facilitate the analysis of vast amounts of data and complex statistical models. Statistical software like SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and R (a programming language for statistical computing) allows researchers to analyze data more efficiently and derive meaningful conclusions.

5. Data Visualization: Computers enable the visualization of data in graphical formats, making it easier for researchers to communicate their findings. Graphs, charts, and infographics created using software like Microsoft Excel or specialized visualization tools enable researchers to present data in a more accessible and meaningful way.

Overall, computer technology has transformed psychological research by enabling efficient data collection, precise experimentation, simulation and modeling, advanced statistical analysis, and effective data visualization.
