There is a total of 1600 cups and bowls. cups cost 1.90 and bowls cost 2.85. how many of each do you have if the bill was 3430.00. and that includes 105.00 saucer.

Does that mean there were 105 saucers or that $105.00 was spent on saucers? If $105 was FOR sauccers, then $3325 was for cups and bowls.

You can write two independent equations for the number of cups (C) and the number of bowls, B.

One of them is B + C = 1600.

Write the other (based upon cost) and solve the two together.
