i have a silver ring with a symbol on the inside the symbol is an upper case u with an arrow thru it what does it mean?

I am only interested in Twentyman Silver, but there are a number of pictoral marks the look like a U with an arrow up through the U. see for example:

One of the scottish marks looks very much like a U with an arrow through it when the mark is worn. The arrow is really a thistle.
