Homework Help: Successful College Writing

I am having a tough time with this one question. Which of the following sentences contains a dependent clause?

1. The red sports car that was parked under the tree belongs to Alan.

2. Jared eagerly climbed into the boxing ring; he was on his back and out for the count in less than ten seconds.

3. Please clear the table and wash the dishes.

**I know that a dependent clause cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. That's why I am torn between 1 and 2. I believe it is number 2 but not 100% sure. Do you think it's 2 also?

No, # 2 does not have a dependent clause. It has two independent clauses:

Jared eagerly climbed into the boxing ring;

he was on his back and out for the count in less than ten seconds.

In # 1 -- can this clause stand alone?

that was parked under the tree
