Homework Help: us history ap/cc

My teacher told us that we need to write an essay answering this thesis statement; Why is it so important to study history? Or is it?
I know that history is very important to study no matter how boring it may be!! But now I cant think of three reasons why...can someone help please??! All I can think of is that we learn from our mistakes in the past, so it helps make decisons...
