Homework Help: algebra

I'm really confused on how to do a few questions. i am supposed to write the expression using exponents.
1. (2a)(2a)(2a)+(x+y)(x+y)

i am supposed to evaluate this one
1. 4(2+2)^3/(3+1)^2
