As Mr. L pointed out, you have to add the two terms on the left-hand side (LHS):
5/8x + 1/16x=7/16
(10/16)x + (1/16)x = 7/16
10x + x = 7
11x = 7
I will leave it to you to complete the calculations.
so my answer would be
-4 because you 11x=7-11=-4
If we start from
11x=7
we divide each side by 11 to get
(11/11)x = 7/11
x=7/11
So x=7/11 would be the correct answer.
