  You didn't change the first sentences to combine them. # 2 is o.k., but it would be better to say: The average human brain weighs about three pounds, while the average brain of a sperm whale weighs seventeen pounds. # 3 should use "but," not "also" as the connecting word. # 4 needs "and," not "nevertheless."
