consecutive integers are one unit apart,
so 3 of them would be x, x+1, and x+2
both even or odd consecutive integers are 2 units apart,
you would define 3 of them as x, x+2, x+4
whether you x comes out as either even or odd will depend on the sum that is given.
the sum of 3 even consecutive numbers are always even, while the sum of 3 consecutive odd numbers will always be odd.
thanks
