Write an equation of the line containing the given point and perpendicular to the given line.
(2-8); 9x +5y =7
The equation of the line is y= what
I am tried to problem cannot seem to get it right.

I answered the identical question yesterday. Was it you?

the slope of the given equation is -9/5
so your new equation must have slope 5/9 or it must be 5x - 9y = k
sub in your point (2,-8)
10 + 72 = k
so the equation is 5x - 9y = 82
