you just got a n ew dirt bike with really advanced four stroke engine that burns fuel efficiently and you wonder what kind of gas mileage you are getting. like most dirt bikes your new machine has no odometer to record the miles traveled.The rear tire's outside diameter is 26inches. You ride fir an hour andd refill the gas tank-it takes a perfect half gallon.The number of revolutions on the rear tire is 46,565. How far did you travel and what is your miles-per-gallon?

Distance = 46,565 * 26 inches

Convert to miles. (1 mile = 5280 feet) Since it only took a half-gallon, double that amount to get miles per gallon.
