A high school class wants to raise money by recycling newspapers. The class decided to rent a truck at a cost of $150 for the week. The market price for recycled newspaper is $15 per ton. Write an equation representing the amount of money the class will make based on the number of tons of newspaper collected.

Are they looking for an answer or an equation that will give you an answer regardless of how many weeks they have the truck and how many tons they collect? If it's an equation what would it look like?

Yes, per week.

profit=revenue-costs
= 15/ton * xtons -150
so that is the profit for x tons.
