At birth a baby weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces. Two days later the baby weighted 7 pounds 12 ounces. What percent of it's weight had it lost? (show me the steps please)

First, let's convert the weights to

decimals.

8 pounds, 4 ounces = 8.25

7 pounds, 12 ounces = 7.75

8.25 - 7.75 = 0.5

0.5 / 8.25 = 0.060606 = 6.06%
