Employees of a discount appliance store recieve an additional 20% off the lowest price on an item. If an employee purchases a dishwasher during a 15% off sale, how much will he pay if the dishwasher originally cost $450?

Could you give a little more detail on this? I am not sure where you got the (.85) and the (.80)?

1.00 - 0.20 = 0.80

1.00 - 0.15 = 0.85
