for this question the answer is 680..the answer i get is 684 please help

1. it takes you 9.5 mins to walk with an average velocity of 1.2 meters per second to the north from the bus stop to the museum entrance. what is your displacement?

i did:
9.5 * 60=570
570 * 1.2 = 684

9.5 and 1.2 are both given to two significant figures

To two significant figures 684 is 680 or 6.8*10^2

oh ok..can you please help me with my quesion posted earlier..?

thanks:)

nope

To calculate your displacement, you need to find both the distance you traveled and the direction of your motion.

Given that you walked with an average velocity of 1.2 meters per second to the north for 9.5 minutes, we can first convert the time from minutes to seconds:

9.5 minutes * 60 seconds/minute = 570 seconds

Next, we can calculate the distance traveled by multiplying your velocity by the time:

1.2 meters/second * 570 seconds = 684 meters

So, your calculation of 684 meters for the distance traveled is correct. However, your displacement also depends on the direction. Since you walked to the north, your displacement would be 684 meters to the north.

Therefore, the correct answer to the question is a displacement of 684 meters to the north, rather than 680 meters.
