Self-respect is unconditional positive regard for self.
This means that you always respect yourself, no matter what you may or may not do.
Respect is being able to accept people as the perfect individuals they are.
This means that everyone is doing the best they can under the circumstances. Even if s/he does things that you loathe, you can still respect the individual.
