Homework Help: advertising

Does anyone know just how effective advertising a business or service is in a free publication that is mailed out to just anyone and left at free pick up points around a geographical area?

It really depends on the buisness and whether or not people feel it is legitimate. Me and my husband owned a autobody shop and it was relatively effective, but i have known other buisness owners who do not believe it is.
