Homework Help: Factor Completely

Posted by Jennifer on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 6:57pm.

I used the U-substitution

6x^6 + 13x^3 - 5

x^3 = u x^6 = u^2

6u^2 + 13u - 5

(6u^2 + 2u) + (15u - 5)

u(6u + 2) + 3 (6u + 2)

(6u + 2) (u + 3)

(6x^6 + 2) (x^6 + 3)

Is this correct?
