Homework Help: Math

I skakeboard 5 blocks west abd 8 miles north to get to my friend's house. Each block is 1/8 in length. How far does it take me to travel in a round trip to my friend's house? A mile is 5,280 feet and 1/8 mile is 660 feet. I am thinking 8 x 660 =5,280 or 1 mile and 5 x660 =3300 or 5/8 miles, so 15/8 +1 5/8 =3 2/8 miles round trip. Am I thinking right?

I assume you've skated 8 BLOCKS north (not 8 miles).

You've traveled 1 mile north and 5/8 mile west = 1 5/8 miles.
