how to make multiplication and division easier?

There are many ways, but complete memorization of the multiplication and division facts, 0 - 12, seems necessary to me. Buy or make flashcards. They are one of the best ways to memorize anything.

To make multiplication and division easier, there are several strategies you can use:

1. Memorize multiplication tables: Knowing the multiplication tables up to at least 10 can greatly speed up the process. Spend some time each day practicing and memorizing these tables.

2. Understand patterns: Recognize patterns and relationship between numbers. For example, multiplying by 10 is as simple as adding a zero at the end of the number. Multiplying by 5 can be done by dividing the number by 2 and then multiplying by 10.

3. Break down complex problems: If you're working with large numbers, try breaking them down into smaller, more manageable parts. For example, if you need to multiply 46 by 8, you can multiply 40 by 8 (which is 320) and 6 by 8 (which is 48), then add the two results together.

4. Use estimation: Instead of calculating exact answers, estimate the result. This can be helpful when dividing larger numbers. Round the numbers to the nearest tens or hundreds and then divide. This can help you quickly estimate the answer.

5. Practice mental math: Regularly practicing mental math can improve your speed and accuracy with multiplication and division. Start with simpler problems and gradually work your way up to more complex ones.

Overall, the key to making multiplication and division easier is practice and familiarity with numbers. The more you practice, the more you'll develop mental shortcuts and strategies that work best for you.
