First, let's get the outside area.

A = pi * r^2

A = 3.14 * 10.24

A = 32.1536

Now, the inside area:

A = 3.14 * 2^2

A = 12.56

Subtract:

32.1536 - 12.56 = ?

Combine like terms, in this case simplify to multiply:

3.2^2pi its 10.24pi

2^2pi its 4pi

then subtract like terms

(10.24 - 4) pi = 6.24pi

~19.59SqU (Square Units)
