First, let's get the outside area.
A = pi * r^2
A = 3.14 * 10.24
A = 32.1536
Now, the inside area:
A = 3.14 * 2^2
A = 12.56
Subtract:
32.1536  12.56 = ?

Combine like terms, in this case simplify to multiply:
3.2^2pi its 10.24pi
2^2pi its 4pi
then subtract like terms
(10.24  4) pi = 6.24pi
