Please help me solve this word problem.
If Leah is 6 years older than her sister, sue, and John is 5 years older than Leah, and the total of their ages is 41. Then how old is Sue?

Let s equal Sue's age.
s + s + 6 + s + 11 = 41
3s + 17 = 41
3s = 24
s = ?

I didn't use an equation. I read the problem and used common sense and basic arithmetic.
Leah is 6 years older than Sue.
John is 5 years older than Leah.
Therefore John is 11 years older than Sue.
