Please help me solve this word problem.

If Leah is 6 years older than her sister, sue, and John is 5 years older than Leah, and the total of their ages is 41. Then how old is Sue?

    Let s equal Sue's age.

    s + s + 6 + s + 11 = 41
    3s + 17 = 41
    3s = 24
    s = ?

    I didn't use an equation. I read the problem and used common sense and basic arithmetic.

    Leah is 6 years older than Sue.
    John is 5 years older than Leah.
    Therefore John is 11 years older than Sue.
