Was there anyone missing from the constitutional convention and if so who was missing from the constitutional convention?

Certainly! The Constitutional Convention, also known as the Philadelphia Convention, took place in 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, not all of the delegates appointed to attend the convention ended up participating. There were a few prominent individuals who were notably absent from the convention. Here are some examples:

1. Thomas Jefferson: Although Jefferson was a strong advocate for constitutional reform, he was serving as the United States Minister to France during the convention. Therefore, he was unable to attend and participate in the proceedings.

2. John Adams: Adams, who would later become the second President of the United States, was also serving as a diplomat during the convention. He was appointed as the United States Minister to Great Britain and therefore was not in attendance.

3. Patrick Henry: Henry, a prominent figure in the American Revolution, was a strong opponent of the proposed centralization of power that the convention aimed to achieve. He declined his appointment as a delegate and famously stated, "I smell a rat" in regards to the convention's intentions.

4. Rhode Island Delegates: The entire delegation from Rhode Island did not attend the convention. Rhode Island's government was deeply divided on the issue of a stronger central government, leading to conflicting instructions to the delegates. As a result, they did not participate.

These are just a few examples, but it should give you an idea of some of the notable absences from the Constitutional Convention.
