For an assignment, I have to use this data sheet to do a few things with the data it gives me. To get to it, go to PRB. org, click on 2008 World Population Data Sheet, and then click on 2008 World Population Data Sheet again

I'm stuck in this:

Construct a bar chart showing the regional distributions of the world's population for the current year, 2025, and 2050. What trends are reflected in the bar chart?

and this one, too: What proportion of the world's people live in less developed countries (LDCs) in the current year? In more developed countries (MDCs)? What proportion of the world's people is projected to live in LDCs in 2025? In 2050? What proportion is projected to live in MDCs in 2025? In 2050?

I'm completely lost. I don't really understand what any of these questions even mean.

Thanks

At the top of this search result page, there are several examples of bar graphs. I'm sure you've seen many. There is also a link (Create A Graph) that will help you make one:

http://www.google.com/search?q=bar+graphs&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

For the second question, it sounds as if you need to gather data about LDCs and MDCs from that website, and then do some addition. Are you supposed to come up with a bar graph for this question, too?

No problem! I'll help you break down the steps to answer these questions using the PRB (Population Reference Bureau) website and the 2008 World Population Data Sheet.

To start, follow these steps to access the data sheet:
1. Open a web browser and navigate to PRB.org.
2. Look for the "Data and Tools" section on the website.
3. Under that section, click on the link for the "2008 World Population Data Sheet."
4. On the next page, you will find a list of topics and indicators related to population data. Locate and click on the link for "2008 World Population Data Sheet" again.

Once you have the data sheet open, you can proceed to answer the two questions.

Question 1: Construct a bar chart showing the regional distributions of the world's population for the current year, 2025, and 2050. What trends are reflected in the bar chart?

To answer this question, you need to gather data for the current year, 2025, and 2050 on the regional distributions of the world's population. The data sheet should provide this information.

1. Look for the section in the data sheet that lists different regions or countries and their population figures for each year.
2. Identify the relevant columns or tables that provide population data for the years you need (current year, 2025, and 2050).
3. Take note of the population figures for each region in each year.
4. Once you have the data, you can create a bar chart using spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
5. Use the data from the data sheet to plot each region's population on the y-axis and years on the x-axis.
6. Each bar in the chart should represent the population of a specific region for a particular year.
7. Analyze the trends in the bar chart by identifying which regions show an increase or decrease in population over time.

Question 2: What proportion of the world's people live in LDCs in the current year? In MDCs? What proportion is projected to live in LDCs in 2025? In 2050? What proportion is projected to live in MDCs in 2025? In 2050?

To answer this question, you need to find the proportions of the world's population living in less developed countries (LDCs) and more developed countries (MDCs) for different years. Follow these steps:

1. Look for a section or table in the data sheet that provides the population breakdown by country or region, specifying whether they are categorized as LDCs or MDCs.
2. Locate the population figures for LDCs and MDCs for the current year.
3. Calculate the proportion of the world's population living in LDCs and MDCs by dividing the respective population figures by the total global population for the current year.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the projected years 2025 and 2050, if available in the data sheet.
5. Analyze the proportions you calculated and note any trends or changes over time.

Remember, the data sheet may include additional information that can provide insights into the questions. Take your time to navigate through the data sheet and familiarize yourself with its contents. If you have trouble finding specific data or have further questions, feel free to ask!
