i am trying to find the minimum volume of hot water needed to dissolve 100 mg of salicylic acid.
when i did the calculations i got 100 ml of hot water is this correct??
The data is
[temp] [amount of salicylic acid
per 100 ml water, g]
You don't give much information about what you are to do. Are you to graph these data. Is the solubility listed in grams; i.e., is the first entry 0.10 g or 0.10 mg SA? And what do you consider hot? It could be 50 C or 75 C or 90 C (or some other value)? I looked in my copy of The Merck Index and found the solubility listed as 1 g SA soluble in 15 mL boiling water.
