If it was 8:00am in Greenwich England what time would it be in Vancuver Canada?

That is my question---I had written it out on a test but got the answer wrong and now that I'm trying to study I don't know the answer.
Is is 12 am or 12 pm?

Thanks!!

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. It is a difference of 7 hours later in Greenwich, or 7 hours sooner in Vancouver. Therefore, if it is 8 a.m. in Greenwich, it will be 1 a.m. in Vancouver of the same day.

Sra

When it's 8 a.m. in Greenwich, it's 8 hours earlier in Vancouver. That makes it 12 a.m. (midnight) in Vancouver.

Sra is probably right. Greenwich doesn't observe Summer or Daylight Savings Time, but Vancouver does. Therefore during our Daylight Savings Time, there's only a 7 hour difference.

To determine the time difference between Greenwich, England, and Vancouver, Canada, you need to consider the time zone difference and the direction in which you are traveling.

Greenwich, England, is located in the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) zone, which does not observe daylight saving time (DST).

Vancouver, Canada, is located in the Pacific Standard Time (PST) zone. However, it is important to note that Vancouver follows Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) during DST.

When it is 8:00am in Greenwich, England, you need to account for the time zone difference and the DST status.

Greenwich is 8 hours ahead of Vancouver during standard time. So, if it is 8:00am in Greenwich, it would be 12:00am (midnight) in Vancouver.

However, if it is during DST, the time difference changes. During DST, Vancouver follows Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), which is 7 hours behind Greenwich during standard time. In this case, if it is 8:00am in Greenwich, it would be 1:00am in Vancouver.

To make sure you have the correct answer, always double-check the current time zones and DST status of the locations you are comparing, as these can change depending on the time of year.
