The word "widely" and "throughout the world" seem redundant. You might delete one or the other.
More important, though, is this: The acronym is spelled with all caps -- AIDS -- since it stands for "acquired immune deficiency syndrome."
* aids = helps
* AIDS = acquired immune deficiency syndrome
* aides = helpers
Keep them straight.
