Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum again. Let me explain how my students read literature. The first time is for a quick idea of who, what, when, etc. The second time is answering specific questions. The third time it should all "fall together." A quick way to answer your question this evening is to SKIM each character that speaks and only look for Mengo's lines.
Beginning with the Index, when Mengo is described as "labrador gracioso," it forecasts that he is funny and witty. He doesn't enter until the second act. Possibly it's because I'm so tired nothing seems comical to me this evening! However, hee are some lines to check and then you can tell me what you chose.
Act II = 617 Act III 245, 408, 765
Now, don't just loo at THAT page but the group of lines.
PI chose line 230 in act three when mengo says It wasn't enough to be a pimp, you went and whipped my arse as well.
It looks like we don't have the same copy because on my copy that's where the Comendador speaks. But it looks like a reasonable choice on your copy.
P.S. What I'm reading from is from the Virtual Cervantes Library.
