When choosing a pattern to plan, organize, and write your essay, I have recommended
the cause and the effect pattern of development as a model. As I brainstorm ideas and base my
writing experience and general knowledge about the topic of youth violence, a combination of
individual, relational, community, and societal factors is contribute to the risk of perpetrating
IPV (Intimate Partner Violence).
First of all, I would talk about how youth violence often seems to be the direct or linking
results or direct effects of a number of societal problems. For example, I feel like youth
violence often originates from unstable family structures, poor education or dropout rates, single
parent homes, lower socioeconomic status, increases and exposure to prolonged violence from
movies, music, and violent video games, and a number of other issues. I also think that divorced
homes, peer pressure, increased exposure to weapons, abuse in the home or family domestic
violence, substance abuse, sexual harassment, relationship abuse, unemployment and other
reasons contributing to the problem. As you explore these causes, I might use these aforesaid
examples as starters.
Next, after looking at various causes for youth violence, I definitely want to explore and
state some of the effects. Some of the ramifications that I personally think are related to and
linked to youth violence that includes higher homicide rates in America. The higher prison rates,
lower literacy rates, prison overcrowding conditions, gang violence and youth deaths has lower
increased teen pregnancies, increased suicides, etc. Other effect that causes youth violence in the
world is low self-esteem, low academic achievement, involvement in aggressive or delinquent
behavior as a youth and physical violence. Physical violence includes a partner history of
alcohol or drug abuse; assault of any kind, ranging from pinching or pushing to choking,
shooting, stabbing, and murder. The verbal, emotional, mental, or psychological abuse is
described as using words to criticize, demean, or otherwise decrease the confidence of the
victim.
As part of treating domestic violence it involves keeping the victim safe and developing
a safety plan for home and the workplace.

I think your teacher wants you to write a paper about the cause and effect pattern of youth violence. Or did you change your topic to IPV?
It is overall. Maybe I will need to take out the part that talks about IPV. What do you think?
