The directions are factor completely...

the problem is 30xy-72y-3x^2y

I got 3y(10x-24-x^2) but i don't think this is right does anybody know what the answer should be?

how about

-3y(x^2 - 10x + 24) which is
-3y(x-6)(x-4)

18x+3>10

To factor the polynomial 30xy - 72y - 3x^2y completely, you need to find the greatest common factor (GCF) of all the terms.

Step 1: Identify the GCF of the terms.
The GCF for 30xy, -72y, and -3x^2y is 3y.

Step 2: Divide each term by the GCF.
Dividing 30xy by 3y gives you 10x.
Dividing -72y by 3y gives you -24.
Dividing -3x^2y by 3y gives you -x^2.

So, factoring out the GCF, the expression becomes 3y(10x - 24 - x^2).

Therefore, your answer, 3y(10x - 24 - x^2), is indeed correct.
