Heather is buying a TShirt for $8. Sales tax is 8 1/4 cents per dollar. How much will Heather pay in sales tax on her purchase?

The easiest way to solve this problem is to change the fraction to a decimal. 8 1/4 cents = $0.0825.
Then multiply: 8 * 0.0825 = 0.66
Add: $8.00 + 0.66 = Total cost of shirt
