Soybean meal is 18% protein; cornmeal is 9% protein. How many pounds of each should be mixed together in order to get a 360-lb mixture that is 16% protein?

How many pounds of the cornmeal should be in the mixture?

How many pounds of the soybean meal should be in the mixture?

If we let x = weight of soybean meal, then
360 - x = weight of cornmeal
0.18x + 0.09(360-x) = 360*0.16
Solve for x and 360-x.
