Act as an IT consultant to a new nonprofit organization, Free Flu, which provides flu shots to the elderly. The organization needs a domain name.

Use Internet resources to determine what domain name is available for the company.

Differentiate between any Web pages and/or Web servers you would use for this task.

Describe your findings and reasoning in 200 to 300 words.

that is my assignment, I already know it should be a dot-org but my question is......

what is "Differentiate between any Web pages and/or Web servers you would use for this task." asking for.

I do not understand what i am supposed to write, and well my professor didn't answer me. so im stuck....

Thanks for you help!!

Shatima, what you need to do is find out which web server would be best for the company to use. You also need to make sure that whatever URL you want to set up has not been used yet. Esentially the "Differentiate between any Web pages and/or Web servers you would use for this task." means "compare the web pages that different web servers can give you and what would you use"

I would advise you to look through your tect books and try to speak to your proffesor again because I might be wrong
hope this helps
Minnie :)

Thanks for your help Minnie!!

I asked professor, he signed online, but ignored my question. ( I thought that was the point of a "questions for this week" section on the forum, is for him to check it when he is online!! Sorry to vent, but im unhappy with this professor.

anyways. So you think I should find websites like 1&1.c0m that host websites and say I think this place would be the best with this domain because it offers all of this and is cheap at this price?

Thanks again Minnie, you have been alot of help!

Shatima there are some free ones outthere just cheak out credibility of your sites as well. But basically yes that is what I mean. Try catching your Proffesor before class personally or arrange a meeting

Minnie;)

Thanks again minnie!!!

Its an online class :) and well its due tonight. Im still angry he was online, and posted in the same forum as the question thread is in, but did not answer mine for this assignment... someone is getting a bad review come survey time.

Thanks, I was a little confused about what that meant, as well.

To differentiate between web pages and web servers for the task of finding a domain name for the nonprofit organization, Free Flu, it is important to understand the different components involved in hosting a website.

A web page is a specific document or file that is displayed on a browser when a user types a URL or clicks on a link. It contains information such as text, images, videos, and interactive elements. In this case, a web page could refer to the website that represents Free Flu and provides information about their services, mission, and contact details. The web page would ideally include a section where users can request flu shots or find out more information about the organization.

On the other hand, a web server is a computer or network of computers that stores and delivers the web pages to users. It is responsible for hosting the website and making it accessible over the internet. When someone types the domain name of the website in their browser, the request is sent to the web server, which then sends the appropriate web page back to be displayed on the user's browser.

When searching for a domain name for Free Flu, you will primarily need to focus on finding an available domain name that is relevant, easy to remember, and reflects the organization's purpose and goals. You can use various internet resources to search for available domain names. Some popular domain name search services include GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Google Domains.

To find an available domain name, you can follow these steps:

1. Visit a domain search service or registrar.
2. Enter potential domain names related to Free Flu, such as "freeflu" or "fluwalk".
3. Conduct the search and check the results to see if the domain name is available.
4. If the domain name is available, register it with the chosen registrar.
5. If the domain name is already taken, you can consider variations of the name or use synonyms related to the organization's mission.

In summary, when differentiating between web pages and web servers for finding a domain name, it is important to understand that web pages are the specific documents displayed on browsers, while web servers are the computers that host and deliver these web pages. By using internet resources or domain search services, you can search for an available domain name that aligns with Free Flu's mission and register it for the organization.
