**Ms. Sue**, Monday, July 21, 2008 at 5:15pm1 mile = about 1.61 km.

Multiply: 25,000 * 1.61 = ? km

1 km = 1,000 m

Multiply your km answer by 1,000.

**Ms. Sue**, Monday, July 21, 2008 at 5:18pmTo be more accurate for the meters --

1 mile = 1 609.344 meters

Multiply: 25,000 * 1,609.344 = ? m

when i multiplied km by 1000 i ended up getting 40250000

but when i mutiplied 25000x1609.344 i ended up getting 40233600

**Ms. Sue**, Monday, July 21, 2008 at 5:43pmThe more accurate answer is 40,233,600 meters. But many teachers would probably accept the other answer, also.
