Ms. Sue,

I have to write a 350 to 500 words essay , by doing a compare and contrast for the following. The problem is I am not too sure of the charactericts of each groups. please help.

Descriptors

Good neighbors, family oriented, oppressive to women, not oppressive to women, women as homemakers, women who go to work, patriarchal society, modest dress, immodest dress, well educated, undereducated, religious content in education, secular content in education, devout, law abiding, conservative political values, moderate political values, governed by Biblical law, governed by the Qur’an, fanatically religious, religious values perpetuated in politics, religion part of government, male-dominated political environment, political environment open to both sexes, violent, peaceable, socially exclusionary, socially inclusive, socially oppressed, socially compliant, sexist, feminist, strict moral values, moderate moral values, flexible moral values

Arab and MUslism american

Almost all of those characteristics can be applied to both groups.

Most Christian and Arab/Muslim Americans are good neighbors, family oriented, devout, law-abiding, have moderate political values, are socially complaint, have moderate and flexible moral values, etc.

A few people of both groups embrace some of the extreme positions, such as oppressive to women, want religion to be part of government, etc.

The only two characteristics that are specific to only one group are governed by Biblical law and governed by the Qu'ran.

I suggest you write your essay pointing out the fallacies of stereotyping.
