**Damon**, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 5:59pmyou could always check it using FOIL or the distributive property. For example:

(x-2)(x+7) = x(x+7) -2(x+7)

which is

x^2 + 7 x - 2 x - 14

which is

x^2 + 5 x - 14 sure enough
