What direct, non-fuel uses of petroleum are involved in the daily operation of a Hybrid?

Please help I don't understand the question!

Hybrid cars are cars that run on both petroleum (i.e. gas) and another type of energy source (e.g. electricity from batteries, hydrogen, etc.).

What you have to do for this question is find a use for petroleum in hybrids outside serving as a fuel.

You could look up "hybrid electric vehicle" on wikipedia and start there.

I think that on of the other uses of petroleum in a hybrid is to serve as lubrication for the motor (but you would have to verify this).
