Could you please see if i have translated this english to french correctly?

Most squirrels are active during the day, beginning at dawn, often resting midday, and active again until dusk. Squirrels are most active during the fall, collecting and burying nuts and seeds and also looking for protective shelter from winter weather.

Habitat. Trees provide protection from the elements and predators, and also serve as a food source for squirrels. In urban areas, squirrels are able to use human-made structures for shelter, such as attics, sheds and eavestroughs.

Diet. Squirrels eat acorns as well as other nuts and seeds, flowers, buds, fruit and occasionally bird eggs and young/small birds. Squirrels normally have two litters per year with each litter consisting of one to seven young.

Reproduction. The first mating season is from December to January and birth occurs during February to April. A second mating may occur in the early summer and another litter may arrive during August or September. At seven-to-eight weeks of age the young leave the nest to forage with the mother.

Thank you for a very good effort! The only difficulty appears to be with word order and exact vocabulary. When in doubt, SIMPLIFY what you are trying to say, because it can become verbose if you try to translate too literally.

Here'a a key to using the dictionary. 1. Take the English word you wish to tranlate into French and write down every possibility. 2. Now take each French word and look it up for the primary meaning in English. There will be surprises. 3. Select the best word based on the context, or exactly how the word is used.

Now, here are some corrections. Hopefully I got most everything but my eyes are very weak in the evening.

Line 1: Most nouns use the definite article: Les écureuils: La plupart d'écureuils sont en activité pendant le jour, commençant à l'aube, en repos souvent jusqu'à midi

Line 2: et actifs encore jusqu'au crépuscule...... (dots mean the rest you wrote is fine)

Line 3: actifs pendant l'automne, en rassemblant et en enterrant des noix....
(NOTE: la chute is "downfall" and écrous have threads)

Line 4: en cherchant aussi (or également) de l'abri protecteur des temps d'hiver. (delete "survivent à) L'habitat. .....

Line 5: (perhaps instead of assurent, pourvoient/fournissent).....(at the end) = d'une

Line 6: (secteurs is more military, so perhaps zones instead, which is feminine) urbaines,...... (or even la banlieue = suburbs).....

Line 7: (employer or se servir de) des structures faites par les humains..... (instead of "tel que" you might use "comme").....

Line 8: (here's the word for eavestroughs) les gouttières La nourriture (régime is a special diet).....

Line 9: noix (écrous being wrong kind of nut )......(delete oeufs de fruit) = fruits et de temps en temps des oeufs d'oiseau et

Line 10: des oiselets (small birds or "les petits" which are the young of animals/birds).......

Line 11: (civière is a stretcher, litter in a hospital) chaque portée (delete "se") composant/consistant dans un à sept petits. La reproduction.....

Line 12: (2 choices for "mating season" = saison des amours OR accouplement) + a lieu depuis décembre jusqu'à janvier......(instead of se produit, perhaps arrive)...

Line 13: .....portée (or un second accouplement) peut avoir lieu au débout.....(rmember not to use civière)

Line 14: ..... À l'âge de sept ou huit semaines les petits

Line 15: prennent congé du nid à fourrager (spelling) avec la mère.
