Elly writes the following expression on the blackboard.

(13+24)+0+7
Use three properties of addition to simplify the expression. Include the names of the properties you use.

what properties of addition are there cause im not sure!!!!

One property is that any number PLUS zero is the same number.

Another property is that it makes no difference in which you do the operations. That is called the commutative property.

The various properies of additiona are listed here:

See which others you need. In this case, you just add them all up, so I don't see what the big deal is.

thanx a lot!!!

There are several properties of addition that can be used to simplify expressions. Here are three commonly used properties:

1. Commutative Property of Addition: This property states that changing the order of the terms being added does not affect the sum. In other words, a + b = b + a. For example, if we have the expression (13 + 24) + 0 + 7, we can rearrange the terms using the commutative property: (24 + 0) + (13 + 7) + 0.

2. Associative Property of Addition: This property states that the grouping of terms being added does not affect the sum. In other words, (a + b) + c = a + (b + c). For example, using the expression from before (24 + 0) + (13 + 7) + 0, we can regroup the terms using the associative property: 24 + (0 + 13) + (7 + 0).

3. Identity Property of Addition: This property states that adding zero to any number does not change its value. In other words, a + 0 = a. For example, in the expression 24 + (0 + 13) + (7 + 0), we can simplify the terms using the identity property: 24 + 13 + 7.

Using these three properties, we can simplify the original expression (13 + 24) + 0 + 7 to just 44.
