The width of a swimming pool is 18.5 ft, and the length is 10.75 ft. What is the ratio of length to width as ratio of whole number. Please help me figure this out.

Length/Width =

= 10.75/18.5
= 1075/1850

But this is not in a ratio to a whole number. I was thinking more of 9/5... Thanks though

The problem asked for the ratio of length to width, with the length being the smaller of the two numbers. Therefore, the ratio would have to be less than one. If you are allowed to round off, then the nearest whole number ratio would be one. If you want to reduce the fraction to the smallest denominator it would be 43/74.

ok Thanks you are right sorry

To find the ratio of the length to the width as a whole number, you'll need to divide the length by the width. In this case, the length is 10.75 ft and the width is 18.5 ft.

To calculate the ratio, you can use the formula:
Ratio = Length/Width

Now let's plug in the given values:
Ratio = 10.75 ft / 18.5 ft

To simplify this ratio into a whole number form, you need to find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator and divide both of them by the GCD.

The GCD of 10.75 and 18.5 is 1.

Dividing both the numerator and denominator by 1, the simplified ratio is:
Ratio = 10.75 / 18.5

Since there is no whole number ratio between the length and width, the ratio remains as a decimal value.
